She recently accepted a new teaching position at South Middle School in Henderson, KY. She also continues to spread music in her personal time by singing in the Evansville Philharmonic Chorus and teaching private voice lessons out of her home. Outside of work she is the step-mother of four beautiful children and enjoys spending time with her partner, family, and friends.
Andrew DeKemper has been the Choir and General Music Teacher at Helfrich Park Stem Academy in Evansville Indiana since 2012. When Andrew first arrived at Helfrich Park there was an after school choir club consisting of 12 middle school students from 6th-8th grade. Each year the choir has grown and there are now full year grade level choir classes that make up a choir of 80 students. The choir has grown both in number and in musicality. Becoming more proficient at sight reading has given the choir students more confidence in their ability to sing well individually and together. As a General Music teacher Andrew teaches students how to play guitar and utilize music theory in practical ways. Andrew created a Rock Band and Guitar club that meets once a week after school. The students that attend the after school club learn how to play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drum set, piano and ukulele. This group of students accompany the choir at their concerts throughout the school year. It is great to see students who are not in any music program find excitement, enjoyment and confidence in playing instruments with a group. Andrew enjoys teaching and helping with events at Helfrich Park. Andrew is also the youth and worship pastor at Evansville Grace Nazarene Church and enjoys playing music in the community.
